Golden Arrows head coach Lehlohonolo Seema says it was a nice reunion as he and Royal AM coach John Maduka teamed up in the DStv Compact Cup to coach the Amabutho side on the weekend.
Seema and Maduka (and assistant Abram Nteo) spent many years working together at Bloemfontein Celtic, and were co-coaches at Siwelele until 2020 when Seema left the club to join Chippa United.
The former Orlando Pirates captain had two spells at Chippa, and also worked at Black Leopards after his departure from Bloemfontein, before taking the Arrows job ahead of the 2021/2022 season.
Maduka of course stayed at Celtic, and moved with the club at the start of the season when Royal AM bought Celtic’s DStv Premiership franchise.
But it wasn’t to be a winning reunion, as Amabutho lost 2-1 to Warriors in Saturday’s semi-final.
When asked by iDiski Times about the reunion, Seema said it was a nice to spend time with his old colleagues.
“Of course you see it on the bench here,” Seema said in reply.
“But (when) we started camping together, I even felt like we could sleep in one room, but different beds, of course!!
“But it was a nice reunion, including ‘Wire’ Nteo also. It was a good one for us. And then we got to catch up.
“And the guys they even say they see why the team why they were playing like that, they can see the harmony, they can see the way we interact with the players.
“So ja, it was a good feeling.”
