Testimonial In Hlompho’s Future?

Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe says that while Hlompho Kekana has left the club, they still hope to have a testimonial for the former captain.

Kekana left the club after a decade, leaving as the most decorated captain in the club’s history.

But he hasn’t considered hanging up his boots just yet, and as a free agent now has been linked with a number of DStv Premiership clubs. He has stated that he hopes to continue playing for a few years.

Speaking on Prime Sports With Mahlatse, Motsepe says that when they are able to do something with their supporters, regulation permitting, the club want to honour Kekana, and a testimonial is an example of how they would like to do that.

“We have said that when the opportunity comes, we want honour Hlompho with our supporters, a testimonial is an example of something that perhaps we could explore with obviously regulation permitting,” Motsepe said.

“But it’s definitely something that we’re looking to do, and we’re hoping that it’s possible, obviously, if it’s government permitting, but there’s also other things that can be done in less sort of grand or big stadium type environments.

“And we’re always looking and hoping for the opportunity. You know, the YouTube testimonial was just to make sure that he was respected from the club and fans, who were part of the Sundowns family heard from him, heard from the club, but that’s definitely something that we can look to do.”
