Mhango – Pirates Supported Me During Difficult Times

Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango has opened up about how tough it was when he had ‘personal problems’ in the past few months.

Mhango was out of action for three months—having played only four games for the Buccaneers in all competitions this season so far.

The Buccaneers star, who has just extended his contract with the club until 2023, says the club was frequently supporting him during the difficult times.

“I had some personal issues that I was going through it, but like I said, I always get support from the team, from everyone around Pirates,” Mhango said on Metro FM.

“But now everything is fine, is okay. What matters for me is to be back in the field of play. The club is always there to support every player if you have issues, the club is always there, the first people to give support is the club. That is what I will respect about it, they’re always there.

“Playing for Orlando Pirates there is much pressure because everyone is expecting better, every single day because there are more supporters, people who love the team.”

The Malawi talisman, who was stared at the Africa Cup of Nations for the Flames, scoring three goals in three matches, hopes to continue with his best form when the season resumes.

“I think I can take this (form) back to the team, it can be a good for the team and me as well because it was a hard for me to break through in the team,” he said.

“If I can go back and still work hard to be back with the team and try to help the team. I know It’s not easy, but I’ll do my best with a team and with everyone. I know that when we get back with everyone, we give each other support.

“There are people who we don’t know, we have never seen them, but they’re always watching us, giving us support, so that is how much respect we need to respect for the budge.”
