The Botola Pro league leaders displayed why they are one of the favourites to win the competition this season with a massive performance in Algiers after going down to ten men as early as the seventh minute.
Veteran midfielder Jalal Daoudi received his marching orders after throwing a punch but they showed defensive resilience to hold the home side to a goalless opening half with less than 30% possession.
And an inspiring team talk during the break from head coach Walid Regragui seemingly worked magic as they broke the deadlock 19 seconds into the second half with a close-range header that left Toufik Moussaoui with no chance.
Wydad showed their usual time-wasting and defensive adeptness in front of the hostile home crowd that notably left CRB frustrated – and went on to see out the game with a valuable away goal to take to Casablanca in the second leg next week.

Tactical masterclass from Walid Regragui – with 25% possession in Algiers this evening.
Defensively flawless, the usual time wasting – Wydad take an away goal to Casablanca.
