Keagan Dolly says he was upset and sad after Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by TS Galaxy on Saturday.
Galaxy won 1-0 in the round of 32 game, meaning that Chiefs are likely to go a seventh year without silverware.
Dolly says being knocked out was upsetting, but what also disappointed him was that the team were not playing well.
“Ja, obviously, we very disappointed,” Dolly told the club’s media department
“Not only because we lost but because of the way we played. I don’t think we weren’t ourselves on the day, our movements off the ball, our pressing shape, I think it wasn’t us.
“And I think it’s good that we have a game on Tuesday so that we can rectify our mistakes, and get our confidence back. And I think the game on Tuesday is a good chance for everyone to come back, and just try and do our best to to win on the day.”
Dolly says it is disappointing to now not have a chance at winning silverware this season.
“Ja, obviously, each and every season, we want to compete for trophies, we want to win trophies for ourselves, for the club and for our supporters,” he added..
“And I think it was very disappointing going out like that, especially so early in the competition.
“And ja, but now we shift our focus to the league and we should do our best to reach the highest we can in the league. And it starts on Tuesday. “
Dolly says that the club’s exit hurt him personally, as he came to the club to win trophies
“Very, very disappointed. I came to Chiefs because I wanted to win trophies,” he continued
“I think we have the capacity to do so, we have the players, we have the quality.
“And to go out so early is really disappointing, and I was upset, I was sad, but we move on.
“I think we just need to start being consistent on the field. And I think once we start being consistent and start winning, we will compete for a lot more.”
Chiefs travel to Cape Town to play Cape Town in a DStv Premiership match on Tuesday.
