Ramahlwe Mphahlele says it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Kaizer Chiefs are not doing well this season, but calls on the players to take responsibility.
The Kaizer Chiefs captain was speaking in last week’s edition of iDiski Times, in a candid interview with the Velile Mnyandu.
Mphahlele says only the players can get them back on track, and says they need to take responsibility going forward, especially the senior players.
Chiefs are currently tenth in the DStv Premiership but won’t be in league action until the 10th of March, when they take on Maritzburg United.
Their current focus on the CAF Champions League, and after a disappointing 4-0 away loss to Wydad Casablanca on the weekend, they will hope to bounce back against Petro de Luanda on Saturday.
“Look it doesn’t need a rocket scientist, we know, we’re not in a good space, we’re not doing well, the results are not forthcoming,” Mphahlele told iDiski Times.
“We as players have to take responsibility for that and say, ‘guys, are we doing enough?’ Which I think we are not, we are not doing enough to help the club.”
“I mean, this is one of the biggest clubs and, we’re going through what we’re going through, but the only people who can take the club out of this situation is the current crop of players that are there; we are aware of the transfer ban that we have from FIFA.”
