The Cape Derby between Hope FC and Cape Town City takes centre stage this weekend in the Motsepe Foundation Championship while there’s also a top-of-the-table clash between Magesi FC and Highbury FC.

A blockbuster weekend in the Motsepe Foundation Championship begins on Saturday afternoon with six fixtures, including strugglers Pretoria University and Orbit College.

AmaTuks won one of the three they played and lost two, and find themselves in 11th place. Meanwhile, Mswenko Boyz are having it tough as they are yet to taste a victory after two losses and one draw.

Both wounded Hungry Lions and The Bees will face each other in Kimberly. Malapipes lost to Cape Town City last weekend by 2-1 at Athlone Stadium and remain 12th in the league table with two points after three games. The Bees remain the only side yet to register a point this season after losing all three games to Highbury FC, Magesi FC, and Gomora United.

On Sunday, a top-of-the-table clash sees high-flying Magesi FC battle with on-form Highbury FC at Nelson Mandela University Stadium. Dikwena Tsa Meetse won all three matches, scoring five goals and conceding only once. While Amajuba occupies second place with the same number of points after securing nine points in three games, scoring four goals and conceding once.

It’s a standstill moment in Cape Town with all roads leading to Athlone Stadium on Sunday as newly promoted Hope FC lock horns with Cape Town City in the Cape Derby. The Immortals won two matches and lost once, they are currently sitting in sixth place. City lost one, drew one, and won one. They have four points and are sitting in seventh place.
