The draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023 took place in Abidjan this evening, with Bafana Bafana finding out which three teams they will face in the group stages.
The 24 participating teams were divided into six groups consisting of four teams each, with hosts Ivory Coast automatically placed in Group A.
The other teams were drawn from four pots, which were based on the official FIFA ranking from 21 of September 2023, with Bafana finding themselves in pot three after dropping to 13th spot in Africa.
As a consequence, Hugo Broos’ men received a tough draw with Tunisia, Mali and Namibia.
The top two from each group qualify for the last 16, plus the four best third-placed teams.
