Pitso Mosimane’s agent and wife Moira Tlhagale has revealed the truth about recent contract talks between Al Ahly and the South African coach.
Al Ahly released a statement last week, explaining that the club will continue with Mosimane on his current contract after talks about a new deal had reached a stalemate, as reported by iDiski Times.
There had been a lot of reports in Egyptian media about Mosimane’s demands in a potential new deal, but his agent explained there were no hectic requests, they just wanted to make sure the coach is respected after the criticism he received following the defeat in the Egyptian Super Cup.
“The issue was not about the contract, the issue was more about the noise that hit when the coach lost the Egypt Super Cup. There was a lot of noise,” she told Thabiso Mosia on SAFMSportOn.
“The coach has got a two-year contract and we’ve finished one year, we’ve got one more to go and the club Al Ahly has got no challenges with the coach.
“I think the only challenge was the noise that we needed to manage ourselves and hence I took a trip to Egypt to go and iron out certain things in the contract.
“Just to make sure that everyone is comfortable with us finishing the second year. The contract and its nature is of course confidential so I cannot talk about it.
“But we found each other and we are continuing with the contract as we found the contract.”
Moira Mosimane also explained that Al Ahly are keen to sit down with the coach for contract talks by the end of the current season.
“Al Ahly has indicated to us that they want to talk, we are very open with them to have an extension of the contract.
“And obviously in negotiations we might agree and we might not agree. The reality of the matter is, if we don’t agree, we part ways and if we agree we will continue.
“But there has been a clear interest from them that they want to extend the contract.”
