Rulani Mokwena has made a plea with Moroccan journalists to check his team’s data, implying their results are not a true reflection of their performances.
Wydad are currently sitting in sixth place after their 1-1 draw with Ittihad Tanger this past weekend, which was overshadowed by Mokwena allegedly being racially abused by a member of the opponents.
Mokwena, meanwhile, also pleaded with journalists, who questioned whether he needs more signings to achieve success, that they should look into the data before analysing how his teams performs.
“I’m happy with my squad,” said the South African tactician, who has collected four wins, three draws and three defeats so far.
“Guys, I speak to very seasoned and experienced journalists. You guys know football very well. I studied this team a lot and I can say to you guys ‘please check the data’.
“Maybe there is one team that is outperforming us in numbers [but] we, by numbers even as early as the season, we are by far better than a lot of teams in the Botola, by far!

“Check out defensive data, check out the counter press, check our regains, check the chances we create, the goals we’ve scored.
“Ok, maybe offensively there is still a lot of work to be done, but we don’t give clear chances, we don’t have… I’d rather keep quiet because I’m very upset today.”
Mokwena was also not in the mood to discuss why his side are conceding so many penalties after previously having a go at referees in Morocco.
“You can’t ask me why every game we concede a penalty if you don’t want me to be honest,” he added.
“If you want me to be honest, ok I talk why we have a penalty every game. If you want me to be politically correct then next question.
“I can answer if you want me to answer…”
