Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says Siyabonga Ngezana’s progress to play in continental competitions in Europe is good for the national team.
After winning the Superliga in Romania with FCSB, the former Kaizer Chiefs defender has now found himself amongst the elite.
Ngezana has cemented himself in the starting line-up at the club through several impressive performances and while they fell at the final hurdle of the Champions League qualification, they will be in the Europa League competition this season.
“It can only be good if players are at a level higher than the local competition, this is the highest quality of club level, when you can play UEFA Champions League, or Europa or Conference League even, it’s something extra [to improve] players,” he said.
“They just become better by playing those games, they are tough games against good teams and you need this to become better as a player, let’s hope it continues like that because it will be good for Bafana Bafana also.”
The 27-year-old recently scored his first goal for the Romanian club in their 2-0 win over UTA Arad before the FIFA International break where he then partnered Rushwin Dortley in defence in the 2-2 draw against Uganda last Friday.
