Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that Ashley Du Preez, Edmilson Dove and Sinethemba Sithebe will miss today’s DStv Premiership match against Golden Arrows.
Amakhosi return to league football after last week’s Carling Knockout Cup exit against AmaZulu.
The defeat resulted in Molefi Ntseki’s sacking, with Cavin Johnson installed as interim coach.
The decision of Chiefs’ board came after Amakhosi have only won one of their last seven games – a run that saw them knocked out of the MTN8 and Carling Knockout, while dropping off the pace in the league.
On Saturday, they will face an in-form Arrows, who are sitting in second on the DStv Premiership log, but Johnson will have to make due without three players.
The biggest absence is Du Preez, who has scored 12 goals since joining the club – more than any other Amakhosi player since the beginning of last season.
“Unfortunately for us, there is the unavailability of Dove, who came from the national team, he has a groin injury,” Johnson stated.
“Sithebe has still not recovered from the injury he sustained at training three weeks ago. We also have Ashley out, who also injured himself just before the last game.
“The other guys are all fit, there’s no major injury we are really worried about. Looking at where they come from and how they responded to our reaction, we have very good players available tomorrow.”
Johnson’s first game in charge for Chiefs will be away against tricky and fearless Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday (15:30).
