Cape Town City captain Thamsanqa Mkhize aims to put a sad face on former teammate Mduduzi Mdantsane when the two meet at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.
City will face Chiefs for the second time in Cape Town since Mdantsane moved to the Glamour Boys after the two sides met in the MTN8, where Chiefs won 2-1 and knocked out City.
Mdantsane, who has mainly played a bit-part role at Naturena so far, returned to Chiefs’ starting line-up in the 3-2 loss against their rivals Orlando Pirates two weeks ago.
Mkhize emphasised that they will make sure that he doesn’t go back to Johannesburg with a smile, especially after causing havoc in the MTN8 quarter-final early in the season.
“These guys are not right (laughs), because whenever they come play us they kill us,” Mkhize told iDiskiTimes.
“We played them in the MTN8, Mdu was the one causing havoc but this time around I don’t think he will go home smiling, we have to make sure.
“As much as he plays for Chiefs, he was one of us, he is our brother, but we don’t like him when he comes to Cape Town goes back home smiling at least he must leave here, leave three points behind.”
Despite the defeat in the MTN8, City have an excellent recent league record against Chiefs, having won five of their last six clashes.
