Nabi Praises Chiefs Player

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has praised the Premier Soccer League debut of Aden McCarthy.

McCarthy, who is the son of former Chiefs player Fabian McCarthy, made his debut for Amakhosi who missed the suspended Inacio Miguel and Bradley Cross.

The 21-year-old held his own in the game against Sekhukhune, which ended 1-1, with Nabi dishing out praise to the youngster after the final whistle.

“We didn’t start the game well in the first minutes with a backline that played for the first time together,” he said on SuperSport TV.

“But I think it’s an opportunity to congratulate a player like Aden McCarthy, his first game in the Premier Soccer League and he did a very good performance.

“But we had a strong character to stay in the game to stay concentrated, and scoring in the last minute of the first half was a very good moment, which gave us the opportunity to go into half-time with moral and come back stronger.”

Nabi also promised the fans a strong fight in their last game against Polokwane City, where a win would secure Amakhosi a top eight finish.

“We need to fight for the three points, it’s not going to be easy but we hope to get some players back from suspension and injuries,” he added.

“Because today there was no defender on the bench, even in the final. But we congratulate the players, they did everything they could to give us the three points.

“We still have a chance and we’re going to do everything in the last game to finish in the top eight.”
