AmaZulu FC have confirmed the signing of former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori on a permanent deal.
Ofori had been without a club following the expiration of his contract with the Buccaneers in July 2024. He had joined Pirates from Maritzburg United (now, Durban City FC) in October 2020, going on to feature 58 times, conceding 36 goals and keeping 30 clean sheets.
Usuthu released a statement on their social media platforms on Friday afternoon following the capture of the Ghanian international shot stopper.
“AmaZulu Football Club have secured the services of free agent goalkeeper Richard Ofori
(30), signing the Ghanaian international on a permanent deal,” the statement read.
“Ofori, who will be joining the KwaZulu Natal team for the upcoming Betway Premiership season, is eager to make an impact.
“The former Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United player expressed his excitement about
the move to KZN, a province he considers close to his heart,” the statement read.
Ofori expressed gratitude at returning to KwaZulu-Natal where his South African career first began, calling it “home”.
“I’m happy to be here in KZN again. It feels like home, as KwaZulu Natal was where I first arrived in South Africa.
“We’re here to work and continue the journey. The team is a big club, the oldest in the country, and I’m here to contribute.
“The team has excellent goalkeepers, and together, we aim to work as a unit to help the club achieve its goals,” Ofori added.
