After their 2-1 victory over Golden Arrows on Sunday, Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro praised the impact of goalscorer Karim Kimvuidi as well as Katlego Otladisa, who was making his first start..
Riveiro was pleased to see Kimvuidi on the scoresheet but said he still has a lot of work to do, as does Otladisa, who Riveiro felt – considering it was his first start – put in an excellent showing.
Otladisa left the pitch towards the end of the game, but Riveiro said it was just cramping.
“I think Katlego is only cramping,” Riveiro said at the post match press conference.
“A long time not playing these amounts of minutes. The rhythm of the game was high.
“But yeh, like I said for Otladisa it was the first time in the starting eleven. So if you think about that, if we contextualize his presence in the starting eleven, like the first one, we can say that it was an excellent one. But he still has a big gap to improve, being a better player.
“And the same with Karim and with everybody else. Pirates is a quality side, we all know. But like I said the important is that when they have the chance, they can show that there’s a reason why they are here.”
The victory sees Pirates move into third place, but still eight points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have in turn also played three games fewer.
