Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena explained what he said to Sipho Mbule before he received his Man Of Match award against Cape Town Spurs.
Mbule hasn’t been getting much game time at Sundowns. He made his return to the team in a 3-0 win over Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou in the CAF Champions League.
The former Supersport United also featured against Pyramids FC where he came in from the bench and left Mokwena impressed. After a great display he was rewarded with a start against relegation threatened Spurs.
The 25-year-old scored a scorcher and he was rewarded with a Man Of The Match award, his first this season. Mokwena stated that there’s a lot more Mbule can do.
“I treat him like all the other players that we have in the team. He has to fight for his place, he has to earn the right to be in the pitch.” Mokwena told the media.
“I said to him if he continues from what he did against Pyramids when he came on as a sub, I thought he was very good and if he continues like that then he have a chance to play in the team.
“He is a good person, we don’t know people, we artificialize personalities based on what we hear, sometimes there’s rumours, you’ve got to know the person.
“If you get a chance to know Sipho Mbule you will know the human being and he is a great guy. He is a great person, immensely talented. I still think Sipho has much more potential, so much more.”
