Sundowns & Arrows Starting XIs Announced

Mamelodi Sundowns and Lamontville Golden Arrows confirmed their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s DStv Premiership clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

After booking a place the MTN8 semi-finals, Masandawana have to shift their focus back tot eh DStv Premiership and continue with their title defence when they face Arrows in the capital city.

Masandawana already won two out of two in the league – with the only other side to still have a 100% record being Cape Town City – and they will be targeting the third win on Tuesday.

On-form Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro has been involved in three goals for Downs this season, scoring two in the league and setting up one more in the MTN8.

Meanwhile, Arrows had a full week to prepare for this clash and they might be a bit fresher than Downs. The KwaZulu-Natal based side are coming to this game with their tails up after defeating their arch-rivals Richards Bay a week ago.

Goalscorers Ryan Moon and Knox Mutizwa are expected to led Abafana Bes’thende against Sundowns again, as they aim to get maximum points against Downs – which is something they’ve never done since 2019.

Last season, Arrows took a point off Sundowns in a 1-1 draw at home, but it was the only point in their last four league encounters.

It’s easy to forget, but Sundowns are still unbeaten in 22 league games under Rulani Mokwena since he took over as sole head coach, winning 16 of those clashes.

Here is how they line up:

Sundowns XI: Williams, Kekana, Abdelmounaim, Mvala, Coetzee, Mokoena, Maema, Allende, Zwane, Nku, Shalulile

Subs: Pieterse, Onyango, Mashego, Modiba, Zungu, Aubaas, Mendieta, Nyanga, Ribeiro Costa

Arrows XI: Theron, Cross, Ndlovu, Shitolo, Dube, van Rooi, Ndwandwe, Gumbi, Moon, Sibiya

Subs: Mlungwana, Nguse, Mthanti, Dlamini, Nxadi, Cele, Ncube, Mhlongo, Zwane
