AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane says they were killing three or four birds with one stone by signing Bongani Zungu.
The experienced midfielder joined Usuthu after his second stint at Sundowns was cut short with termination via mutual agreement.

He was linked with several clubs and even spent time training with Wydad Athletic Club under his former coach Rulani Mokwena, but his fitness levels prevented him from signing with the Botola Pro giants.
Usuthu subsequently snapped him up and he’s impressed in midfield with his ability to drive the team forward and control the pace of the game.
“Look, there’s no doubt about the quality of Bongani, obviously bringing him on board, we knew we’d be killing three or four birds with one stone,” he said.

“Why? Because we needed him on the field and off the field to guide the youngsters and he’s doing that very well for us. As you said, he’s got a rare quality [of dictating the tempo of a game], a lot of youngsters we’re grooming can learn from him.
“They can learn a lot and it’s part of our strategy and I must say thanks obviously to where I have been all these years [at Chiefs] it was always a strategy, how they did things when I was a player – when I arrived at Chiefs there were senior players, quality senior players.
“There was discipline and focus coming from these players, that shows commitment, dedication and now of late, it’s what’s needed with all these youngsters coming through int the PSL of late – it’s good to have these guys, for the development of football.”
