Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has played down that the result against Esperance Sportive de Tunis can be a defining clash of his career.
Once again, with Tunisian media on the offensive in the pre-match press conference for the second leg, they posed how important a result would be to eliminate Esperance, his former side, from the CAF Champions League quarter-final.

With his history of knocking out Sundowns last season and taking Taraji to the final of the competition last season, there were several attempts to rattle the Masandawana coach, which he took in his stride for over 20 minutes in Rades on Monday afternoon.
“In a coach’s career, all matches are challenges, all matches have different contexts, and we need to cope with the different contexts, there’s never a definitive situation for a coach, whatever, this story of a coach is told after looking back, 10, 15 years’ time,” he said.
“You look back and say ‘wow’. We were in the car speaking about my story, sometimes I go back in the past and look at the last 10 years, and you say wow, I’ve worked in Ukraine, Greece, Spain, France, Tunisia, South Africa, Portugal.
“So, in ten years’ time, we’ll look back again and there will be much more to tell than whatever happens tomorrow, believe me.”
