‘Chiefs Match Easiest Final In Al Ahly History’
Egypt legend Mido has insisted that Kaizer Chiefs will be the easiest CAF Champions League final opponents in Al Ahly history.
Mido is best-known for his stint with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League but his most successful time came at Ajax Amsterdam were he lifted four trophies.
He didn’t spend much time playing in his home country during two brief stints at Zamalek. Since moving into coaching, he hasn’t had much success, lifting one Egyptian Cup with the White Knights.
However, the 2006 AFCON winner is still one of the most respected former players in Egypt.
The 38-year-old has now praised the performance of Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly in the semi-final before down talking their final opponents.
“Al Ahly produced a huge performance against Esperance and the victory must be credited to Mosimane first and then his players,” Mido said on the Al Nahar Channel.
“The Kaizer Chiefs match will be the easiest final for Al Ahly in their history.
“History will also remember that Al Ahly defeated Esperance home and away in the African Champions League semi-final without considering any other circumstances.”
Al Ahly have secured their second successive CAFCL final and their 14th overall. They could claim their 10th continental crown if they would beat Amakhosi on 17 July.
