ABC Motsepe Playoffs Day Two Results

Day two of the ABC Motsepe League Playoffs saw the end of the road confirmed for two teams in the quest for promotion to the GladAfrica Championship.

After winning their first game in Group B FC Sivutsa missed out a chance to guarantee a semi-final spot, as they lost 1-0 to Gauteng’s Leruma United. Zanemphi Methula scoring the only game of the match.

Sivutsa will now have to wait until tomorrow’s match between new group leaders Leruma and Hungry Lions to find out their fate.

Phumlani Makhwebane put Umvoti into a 1-0 lead in the opening minute against Glendene United in the Group A clash that followed. And just when it looked like the KZN team would get the win, they conceded a stoppage time own goal as Valentino Frederick’s effort was deflected in by Sanele Ngwenya.

It means the end of the road for Umvoti, as Group A will now be decided in tomorrow’s match between Glendene and current leaders Mangaung Unite.

Finally in the Group C game between BCM Stars and The Dolphins, it ended goalless, ending the hopes of the Eastern Cape’s Stars team, coached by Tshepo Motsoeneng.

The Dolphins play group leaders Platinum City Rovers tomorrow.
