Pitso Sends Message To Downs Ladies

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a congratulatory message to Sundowns Ladies after they lifted the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League title.

Downs ladies beat Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana 2-0 in the final to become the first champions of the tournament.

What’s even more impressive, is they did so without conceding a single goal, while goalkeeper Andile Dlamini was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Mosimane, who was coach of Masandawana between 2012 and 2020 sent the ladies a brief message of support on social media.

“Yes!! Again in Egypt. Congratulations to the girls,” he wrote.

Pitso’s words “again in Egypt” serves as a reminder that he won the club’s first ever CAF Champions League title with the men’s team back in 2016, when his side beat Zamalek 3-1 in the first leg at home before a 1-0 defeat in Cairo at Borg El Arab was enough to lift secure the trophy.

Masandawana have now become one of five club’s worldwide to win the Champions League with their men’s and women’s teams.

Downs Ladies will arrive in Johannesburg at OR Tambo airport at 7:00 am on Sunday morning after two weeks in North Africa.
