Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has insisted his side are on a different level compared to when they were knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Jwaneng Galaxy last year.
Pirates will face Morena Ramorenboli’s side in Botswana for their CAF Champions League encounter on Saturday.
Coming to this encounter Pirates defeated Madagascar champions Disciples FC 4-0 on aggregate, after finishing the first leg away from home in a goalless draw and scored four goals at Orlando Stadium.
Pirates will be playing against Galaxy for the third time in two seasons after they were eliminated by them from the CAF Champions League last season via penalties. The Sea Robbers lost the first leg 1-0 in Botswana and won the return leg in South Africa 1-0 but were defeated on penalties – but Riveiro insisted they are a different team compared to last year.
“Jwaneng Galaxy aren’t champions by any luck,” Riveiro told the media, as per Killer Pass.
“They represented the country well last season, and we really respect them a lot, not because of what happened last season.
“The first leg is tomorrow and the week after is the second left at Orlando Stadium, so we want to be the better side.
“We are in different level compared to last year with different team, so we are ready to compete tomorrow.”
