Sundowns Cruise Into CAFCL Group Stages

Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League group stages with a 6-0 aggregate win over Bumamuru.

Sundowns welcomed the Burundi champions to Tshwane holding a 4-0 lead from the first leg last week and it was one-way traffic, as expected.

However, injuries to Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Thapelo Morena will undoubtedly cause concern ahead of the MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates next week.

Mothobi Mvala opened the scoring in the opening 15 minutes with a header before the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season added a sensational second in the second half.

He beat his marker with ease before smashing an unstoppable strike into the top corner leaving Bumamuru goalkeeper Nduwimana with no chance.

The 2-0 win secured a 6-0 aggregate scoreline as they secured their nine successive group stage qualification.
