Botswana giants Gaborone United are suffering a crisis just days before facing SuperSport United in the CAF Confederations Cup after two technical members resigned following a fallout with the Technical Director Peter James Butler.
Butler, who previously coached the now defunct Platinum Stars as well as the Botswana national team (2014-2017) and most recently Liberia (2019-2022), was appointed as the TD of Gaborone United in May.
Potsho Moloi then got appointed as the head coach of the club in June after the contract of Benny Pogiso Kgomela was not renewed.
But just a few months after Butler’s appointment physical trainer Tshepo Digangwa had a fallout with him and immediately resigned.
Two weeks ago, team manager Owe Godiraone Mmolawa also had a fallout with Butler on their flight from Madagascar after their 3-1 win at Elgoco Plus in the CAF Confederations Cup first preliminary round.
The matter has been taken to CAF after Butler allegedly racially abused Mmolawa, which led to him to resign at the club.
Amid all these troubles, Gaborone United will face SuperSport in the CAF Confederations Cup second preliminary round this coming weekend, hosting them at home on Saturday.
This publication tried to contact Butler for a comment on the matter but he didn’t respond at the time of publishing.
