Chiefs Talent Emerges In Carling Cup

Promising Kaizer Chiefs youngster Vicky Mkhawana was a surprise face spotted with the PSL All-Star XI ahead of the Carling Cup on Saturday.

The 17-year-old signed a first-team contract after a sensational showing at the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations with South Africa where he scored three goals in four games.

A natural midfielder but with a clear eye for goal as he featured predominantly as a nine for the national team, his absence this season has drawn out some questions.

And it appears he has had an injury set-back but is well on course for a return to full fitness, having been training under head coach Jose Riveiro alongside his Chiefs teammate Mfundo Vilakazi over the past two days.

The teenager has seemingly bulked up since he burst onto the scene in Algeria last year and it will undoubtedly provide excitement for Amakhosi fans should he be afforded some game-time at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The game kicks off at 15h00 as they face off against Carling Knockout champions Stellenbosch FC.
