Du Preez Elated With Soweto Derby Brace

Kaizer Chiefs forward Ashley du Preez was happy to return to scoring ways and write his name in Soweto Derby history books with a brace.

Du Preez netted a brace in Saturday’s Soweto Derby, giving his side twice the lead against Orlando Pirates but they still lost 3-2.

It were Du Preez’s first goals since returning from injury and also his first league goal since netting in August against Cape Town City.

The former Stellenbosch FC forward says it’s a dream come true to score in the derby even though the final result didn’t go Chiefs way.

“I have not scored a goal since my return from injury, so it’s an amazing feeling to be a part of history of this big match and score a brace,” Du Preez told Chiefs media team.

“Every player in South Africa would love to play in the Soweto Derby, and scoring makes it even more special. I’m glad I was able to contribute even though the final result was not what we were looking for.

“We look forward to going back to work so we, as Kaizer Chiefs, can finish strongly come the end of the season.”
