Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has opened up on his feelings about joining Sekhukhune United after seven years at Naturena.

Cardoso, 33, was officially unveiled by Sekhukhune on Friday afternoon after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with the DStv Premiership newcomers.

He marked their 13th signing ahead of the new season under the Kaitano Tembo rebuild, having finished 11th in their debut top-flight campaign that has just passed.

Along with former Free State Stars right-back, Katlego Mkhabela, Cardoso expressed his delight in joining the ambitious club, with whom he wants to help secure silverware.

“It feels great to be part of the family, I see they have a lot of ambition by the signings that they’ve made, I’m grateful to be part of this journey,” he told the club’s media.

“So obviously I have a lot of ambition to win trophies. Unfortunately, I haven’t won trophies. So I hope that I can bring the club some trophies in the future with my teammates.

“It’s a team effort, obviously individual brilliance comes aboard, part of the family too so I hope that I can put in my contribution and help the youngsters as I’m obviously one of the senior players, so I’ll be guiding some of the youngsters coming up and giving them a bit of inspiration and helping them in their game.”

Cardoso represented Chiefs 202 times over his spell at the club upon joining from Free State Stars during the Steve Komphela era but failed to win a single trophy during his stay.
