Casric Appoint Former Chiefs Man

Casric Stars have confirmed that former Kaizer Chiefs youth coach Sundra Govinder will replace Aschwin Sutton as head coach.

Govinder was at Naturena for three years between 2016 and 2019 and also worked in SuperSport United’s youth system, but has been more recently part of the technical set-up at Casric, who debuted in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

He will be assisted by former Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thabo Nthethe.

Sutton was relieved of his duties earlier this week.

He had replaced Bucs Mthombeni, who had stepped down after Casric finished third last season, but missed out on promotion, losing out in the playoffs to Cape Town Spurs.

“In light of Mr. Sutton’s departure, we are delighted to announce that Mr. Sundra Govinder, who previously served as the Performance Coach for Casric Stars FC, will be taking on the role of Head Coach,” the club said on their social media account.

“Coach Govinder, along with Coach Thabo Nthethe as his assistant, will work tirelessly to ensure the continued success and growth of Casric Stars FC, collaborating closely with our existing experienced and dedicated technical team that has consistently proved their dedication.
