Kadodia Responds To DC Case & Not Receiving Trophy Despite Promotion

Durban City chairman Farook Kadodia was left disappointed regarding the ongoing DC case as well as not receiving the trophy on the final day of the Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign.

City came into the tie against Cape Town Spurs needing just a point to make a return to the Betway Premiership next season, and it was experienced campaigner Ruzaigh Gamildien’s solitary goal that handed the KwaZulu-Natal outfit maximum points, relegating Spurs to amateur football in the process.

City will have to wait for Tuesday’s DC sitting to know their fate on whether they are the champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship or not. There has been a case involving JDR Stars which they protested for City midfielder Saziso Magawana, stating that he was incorrectly registered. The PSL decided not to do the trophy handover as they felt that the case could have a huge impact on the league table.

Kadodia remained confident that they did everything according to the book, and the player was properly registered by City. He mentioned that this issue gave the player more motivation to come out in the game against the Spurs to fight and show that they do what they do best.

“That’s a huge disappointment for us, and that’s one of the obstacles that I believe they are taking place,” Kadodia told the media.

“We have all the registration done properly, there’s no issue with our registration, there’s no fraud, and I am still surprised that people are trying to see how they can interfere and take us away from the championship trophy.

“I have no doubts about it, to be honest with you, for the years I have been into football and all other cases, I can forward anyone all the controvecial cases, there was a big case in 2022, people have forgotten about that, we need to understand we haven’t done anything wrong.

“We followed the procedures of the PSL and got the player registered. I think it’s a bitter pill for the players and this is why they came out quite strongly, because they feel like there are people that want to stop us.”
