Kudos To My Young Squad – Seema

Polokwane City co-coach Lehlohonolo Seema says he is proud of his young squad, who have been bringing impressive results in the DStv Premiership.

City have bagged back-to-back victories at home, including a 3-1 victory over fellow newcomers Cape Town Spurs in their backyard on Saturday.

The victory saw them rise to fourth place on the log with six points in three matches but Seema knows that the season has only begun and it will be a long road for his charges.

The former Golden Arrows and Chippa United mentor says his players deserve credit because most of them are unknown but they are coachable and are hard workers.

“Credit must first of all go to the chairman for believing in these young guys, unknown players and the way they are fighting, the way they are taking instructions, they are very coachable and they are working very hard,” said Seema after the match.

“And I believe they did not start this season that’s why they got promoted and this is the reward of hard work.

“Coming to the game, look, the one that is gone is gone and we are not on cloud 11. We keep our feet on the ground, humble we remain because it’s still a long way to go and the clean sheet is always a sweet thing with a lot of goals.

“Now you could see Cape Town Spurs did not make it easy. The score-line might be three but every time they were attacking or on the ball you could see that they could get it [a goal]. You had that feeling that if they can get one and they were capable of getting one, we’re going to be in trouble.

“However the chances that we had, that’s why I can tell you it’s work in progress. The chances that we had, if you find so many chances like this in Premier League you must burry all of them and then we will say you are clinical you are learning.

“But at the moment you can see we are still far because I think we had enough chances to burry this game even this one goal [conceded] wasn’t going to be because 3-1 was still not safe, we were under pressure towards the end.

“Rightfully so we tried to defend though we went too deep. The guys were getting tired, it wasn’t an instruction but you can understand because it’s a new team and we tried to protect the 3-0 lead but lots of positives from this game.”

Meanwhile, the former Lesotho international also confirmed that former Baroka FC and Magesi FC man Emmanuel Kambala is training with the team but did not give any details on whether Rise and Shine will sign him.

“He is still training with the team, so ja up until further notice he is still training with the team but he is there I can confirm that he is training with the team,” he added.
