Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns both secured three points to keep DStv Diski Challenge title race wide open, while Stellenbosch FC are hot on their heels.
Pirates faced struggling AmaZulu at Rand Stadium Saturday morning with hopes of securing all maximum points to keep their top spot.
The Sea Robbers were victorious in a five-goal thriller against Usuthu with Mohau Nkota taking his tally to 11 goals, while Azola Matrose and Lulama Nxumalo were also on the scoresheet.
Sundowns were also in action and completed a double over Cape Town City, beating them 3-2. Downs scored the winninng in the 70th minute when City thought they completed a comeback.
On Sunday, Stellenbosch kept pace with the top two, who both moved onto 44 points. The Winelands side beat Richards Bay 3-0 thanks to goals by Mervin Boji, Quwan Plaatjies and Kyle Bailey.
Stellies now sit on 42 points, just two behind the top two. Kaizer Chiefs follow in fourth place with 37 points and are not completely out of the title race thanks to a 1-0 win over at TS Galaxy on Sunday. Donay Jansen scored the only goal of the match, while Neo Bohloko missed a first-half penalty.
