Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Matías Esquivel is set to leave the club to return to the Primera División with Club Atlético Talleres.
The 25-year-old joined Sundowns from Club Atlético Lanús in January in a reported $2.5-million transfer and has played 13 games.
However, with Talleres, who finished second in the league last season came calling, the diminutive midfielder asked the club to allow him to return to his homeland.
iDiski Times understands the deal has appeased both parties, with Sundowns in line to secure a profit should the permanent transfer materialise at the end of his loan.
Aubrey Modiba’s emergence as an eight in the team has allowed Sundowns to be comfortable with the exit of the Argentine.
The two clubs have reached an agreement for a season-long loan with an option to buy, leaving another foreign spot now open to register Abubeker Nassir, should he not secure a loan move away in the current window.
Sundowns currently have Marcelo Allende, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Arthur Sales, Abdelmounaim Boutouil and Erwin Saavedra as foreign options.
Although the latter, as hinted by coach Manqoba Mngqithi, could receive financial citizenship, a loophole Sundowns used for Dutchman Alje Schut back in 2015.
