‘Swallows Still Owe Me Money’

Former Baroka FC midfielder Tshidiso Patjie has dropped a bombshell on monies still owed to him by Moroka Swallows though he refused to divulge the amount.

Patjie was among several players dismissed by the cash-strapped Dube Birds following an alleged strike for outstanding payments. The 33-year-old featured just eight times for Swallows before financial struggles at the Dobsonville-based took over. He went on to finish the season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Bakgakga though he was unable to aid them gain DStv Premiership promotion.

Speaking to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 162 of the newspaper, Patjie said he feels indifferent about the sale of Swallows but proud of how he and former teammates stood up for themselves, though he’s yet to receive his outstanding finances.

“Whatever is happening is not in my hands,” Patjie told iDiski Times.

“The people who are selling or the club owners it’s their choice to sell the team or not. As long as I know what I fought for was right even though I haven’t gotten justice because I still haven’t received my money, it’s fine.”

Patjie says the South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) are the ones following up on the matter on his behalf.

“The people I have been talking to [about this] was the Players’ Union,” added Patjie.

“They are the ones busy with my case and I haven’t received any feedback from them yet. But I understand that my case is still in the process.”
