Talented Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi reveals that he has been hard at work during the club’s pre-season camp in Turkey, and touched on his family being the motivation that drives him daily.
The Glamour Boys are in Turkiye preparing for the 2024/25 campaign after a dismal finish last time out, in 10th place to miss out on the MTN8 competition.
Chiefs have assembled an entirely new technical team under head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who has been taking the players through some of the methods they will be implementing into their playing system, as they look to restore dignity at the club.
‘Obrigado’, 18, prides himself in putting in the work and looks to repay his family.
“Pre-season for me so far has been very nice,” Vilakazi told SS Football.
“Because I’m a person that loves to work, and here, we work very hard.
“We gym three times in a day. In the morning, we run. In the afternoon [early], we go to gym and then in the afternoon [late] we go to the grounds.
“I keep myself motivated by telling myself while on the field of play that, ‘At home they are counting on me, so if I give up, it means I’ll be disappointing my parents.’
Vilakazi was promoted to the Chiefs senior team last season, penning a long-term deal on 14 January 2024. His contract runs until 30 June 2028.
