Wydad Athletic Club have confirmed interest in signing Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau from Al Ahly.
Tau, 30, looks set to leave the African champions after three seasons at the club where he’s won 10 trophies with the Red Devils.
However, it appears the club are going through a process of refreshing their side with the likes of Aliou Dieng moving on to Al-Kholood on loan.
Both Tau and Dieng have formed an integral part of their recent dominance of the domestic and continental scene but the Red Devils are now looking towards building a new-look squad.
Tau will certainly not be short of suitors with several clubs in the Gulf been linked with his services, while Wydad and Zamalek have also been among those said to be keen.
And a representative of the club has now openly admitted they would love to add Tau to their squad under Rulani Mokwena, who worked with Tau at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Saad Al-Dreib stated to Kora Plus; “We are in a period of renewing the squad, and we are looking for players with experience to replace the departed players such as Yahya Jabrane, Ayoub El Amloud and Yahya Attiat Allah.
“A player like Percy Tau and others, of course, we are interested in signing them.”
Attiat Allah, ironically, has been unveiled as Al Ahly’s latest signing ahead of the new season, arriving on loan from Russian Premier League side FC Sochi.
