Ferdinand Adds Ex-Bafana Coach To Man Utd Coaching List

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has added the name of ex-Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz into the mix about possible replacements for Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

The Norwegian was sacked on Sunday following a run of poor results, with Michael Carrick being named as caretaker coach.

United also confirmed that they are looking for an interim manager until the end of the season before signing a permanent new coach.

A host of names has since been linked with the job at Old Trafford and Mauricio Pochettino seems to the current favourite of the club.

According to MEN, Pochettino would even be prepared to leave Paris Saint-Germain midway through his first season in France instead of seeing out the campaign in Paris.

Meanwhile, PSG seem open to the scenario as well, should Zinedine Zidane be available to replace Pochettino.

Ferdinand has now thrown Queiroz’s name into the mix, with Sir Alex Ferguson’s former assistant currently being in charge of the Egyptian national team.

“What about Carlos Quieroz?,” he asked on his FIVE podcast.

“I think if Man United come calling for someone like Carlos Quieroz he drops whatever he’s doing.”

Queiroz was coach of Bafana Bafana between 2000 and 2002 before he joined Ferguson at United and served as his assistant in two separate spells.
