Former Manchester United assistant manager Ricardo Formosinho has compared Mamelodi Sundowns to Liverpool after their clash with his Sudanese side Al Hilal.
The 64-year-old was one of Jose Mourinho’s assistants at United as well as Tottenham Hotspur but took charge of Al Hilal in March.
The Sudanese side managed to hold Masandawana to a 0-0 draw, which were the first points that Downs have dropped in this season’s campaign.
After the stalemate, Formosinho was full of praise for the PSL champions, comparing their style of play to Spurs and Liverpool.
“Congratulations because you play your team like the big teams in England‚” he said, as per FFT.
“Your movement‚ your wingers coming inside‚ your strikers from behind – congratulations‚ perfect. Like Tottenham‚ like Liverpool [were] before. Your team plays like the big teams in England.
“It’s the movement like the big teams‚ like Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho. You can see‚ the striker comes back and opens the space.”
While Downs have qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAFCL as one of the group winners already, Al Hilal could still book their spot. However, they would need to beat TP Mazembe in Congo and hope that second-placed Belouizdad will drop points against Downs on Friday.
