Grobbelaar Sends Pitso A Message
Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar sent Pitso Mosimane a message after his latest trophy with Al Ahly.
‘Jingles’ recently lifted the CAF Super Cup and was reunited with Grobbelaar – the man who made Mosimane his assistant coach at Supersport United in 2001 – on Al Ahly TV.
The former Reds goalkeeper congratulated Mosimane for lifting the Super Cup, before joking that he’s taught him well.
“I’d like to congratulate Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly Football Club in Cairo for winning the CAF Super Cup,”
“It’s a great achievement Pitso, all the very best.
“Those times with me, I’ve taught you well. Haven’t I? (laughs)
“All the very best my friend and well done to Al Ahly Football Club in Egypt.”
Mosimane, who was a guest at Al Ahly TV, was visibly humbled by the words of Grobbelaar, who during his Liverpool days became the first African goalkeeper to win the UEFA Champions League.
“Bruce Grobbelaar,” the South African said with a smile.
“He’s the one who gave me an opportunity as assistant coach. A legend.
“He used to tell me stories of Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish and those legends.
“I know all the stories about Liverpool from him. They conquered and then Man United came after.”
Mosimane has won the CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup and Egyptian Cup since joining Al Ahly, while he also collected an Egyptian Premier League medal even though the domestic top flight title had been secured by his predecessor Rene Weiler before Mosimane joined the Egyptian giants.
