Pitso Mosimane has revealed what Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick told him during a chat at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The duo found themselves on opposite ends in the semi-final of the competition as CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly faced then European champions Bayern.
Flick and Mosimane were pictured chatting before and after the game, with the South African tactician now revealing what his German counterpart told him.
“Bayern coach, Hansi Flick, back then told me he studied Al Ahly players well and warned his players from conceding the equaliser on the break,” he told Al AhlyTV.
Mosimane also insisted that he believed his players had a chance to beat a star-studded Bayern, if they would play compact at the back.
“I think any coach in the world believes in his chances to win any game. Did you believe that Chelsea would beat Manchester City in the Champions League final?”
“I knew there were huge differences between the two teams’ players but a football game lasts for 90 minutes and we have to be smart. This team beat Barcelona 8-2 with Messi on the pitch.
“I didn’t play an open game but our lines were close, if I did the opposite we would have been slammed with 10-0 but I was sorry we conceded two goals.”
Despite losing 2-0 to Bayern, Mosimane and Al Ahly returned with a medal after beating Palmeiras in the game for third place on penalties.
The ‘Club of the Century’ became only the fourth African team in history to finish at the podium at the Club World Cup.
