Pitso Explains ‘Jingles’ Nickname
Pitso Mosimane has revealed that his nickname ‘Jingles’ was given to him because he used talk about former Kaizer Chiefs defender Jingles Pereira all the time.
The South African tactician has returned to Egypt after a brief holiday in South Africa. He now prepares for the Egyptian Super Cup match against Tala’ea El Gaish on 21 September.
After a recent training session, Mosimane took part in an Instagram Q&A arranged by his management team MT Sports Management and spoke about the originating of his nickname.
“I think the nickname came from school when I was playing football in school,” he explained.
“And I liked one guy called Jingles Pereira, he played for Kaizer Chiefs as a centre-back.
“So I liked the way he played from the back as a defender that could pass the ball from the back. In fact, he was converted, he was an attacker and then played centre-back. And I like the way you played.
“I always spoke about the guy and then the name stuck to me from my friends.”
Frank ‘Jingles’ Pereira was part of the Amakhosi team that won the quadruple in 1981.
Al Ahly will also hold a little ceremony on Tuesday night to celebrate their tenth CAF Champions League title together with the club’s management around president Mahmoud El Khatib, club legends and Egyptian sports figures.
