Pitso Mosimane has revealed he wanted to reunite with Khama Billiat after both lifted the CAF Champions League title with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.
The South African coach is currently in charge of Al Ahly, leading the Egyptian giants to their 10th CAF Champions League title after beating Kaizer Chiefs 3-0.
Billiat was a second-half substitute in the game, with Mosimane explained he expected his former player to a feature in the match.
Mosimane has now also commented on rumours whether he wanted to bring the attacking midfielder back to Masandawana when he was still in South Africa.
“When I was still at Sundowns, yes I wanted Khama, but you can’t have a player who belongs to anther team and is contracted to another team,” he told PowerSport.
“But I really wanted him back because I know what he has done for the team.
“I thought he should come back but he was happy at Kaizer Chiefs and he was happy at Kaizer Chiefs and we should also respect that.”
