Potter Explains Tau’s Latest Absence

Brighton & Hove Albion coach Graham Potter has explained why Percy Tau missed his side’s 2021/22 Premier League opener.

The Englishman saw his side come behind to collect a crucial 2-1 win at Burnley on Saturday.

However, Tau was again not included in the match day squad amid rumours he is close to joining Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.

Despite the transfer not being confirmed yet, Potter once again stated that Tau missed his side’s game due to personal reasons.

“Joel (Veltman) was in close contact (with someone who had Covid-19), so he missed the game and the other two are just personal reasons,” the coach said, as per the SussexLive, when asked about the absence of Tau and Aaron Connolly.

It is expected that Tau will leave Brighton this transfer window to join Al Ahly after both clubs reportedly agreed on a fee of €1.8 million, to be paid in instalments.
