Ramalepe On Winning The Belarus Cup
Banyana Banyana vice captain and defender Lebogang Ramalepe is a happy woman after winning her second Belarus women’s cup in two seasons with FC Dinamo Minsk as they defeated FC Minsk last Friday. Lethabo Kganyago reports
Ramalepe’s side scored five goals without any reply from their rivals.
Ramalepe says she and teammates worked really hard for the medal and the story of their campaign is to be able to defend everything they won last season.
“I’m so happy I cannot put it into words, the effort we put it in we worked hard to end up being victorious,” Ramalepe told iDiski Times.
“You know if you were champions the last season coming into a new season you need to be on point and work very hard to make sure that you retain the trophy.
“But so far so good because we played the second round we are still number one leading the log with six points. So what we need to do in the last round is to take it a game at a time and make sure we collect maximum points and I think by the time the season ends we would have collected enough points to be crowned champions.”
There is another milestone the Limpopo born player is still looking forward to this season playing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Ramalepe’s side are scheduled to play Cyprus’ Apollon Ladies in the preliminary round of the Champions League on 18 August.
The 29 year old believes it will be important for Dinamo to take it easy in preparation of their appearance in the continental competition.
“We still have the Champions League. It is important to take each game as it comes because we still have another big tournament that we are facing. So we don’t need to put pressure on ourselves we just need to take it easy and make sure we collect maximum points with each game,” concluded Ramalepe.
