Ronaldo – Why I Returned To United

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed why he returned to Manchester United, 12 years after leaving the club.

The 36-year-old’s transfer from Juventus to Old Trafford was announced on Friday already, but he still had to undergo a medical and agree to details of his contract.

On Tuesday, Juventus confirmed that United will pay €15 million for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, while the club also agreed to another €8 million in add-ons.

“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday,” he told the club’s official website.

“I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again.

“I’m looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”

United are yet to announce Ronaldo’s shirt number but he is expected to get the Nr. 7, which is currently donned by Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan, though, will seemingly switch to 21 after current holder Daniel James will leave the club to join Leeds United.
