South Africa have announced their starting XI to face France in their second Olympics clash.
David Notoane’s men will face Les Bleus in their second Group A fixture after losing 1-0 to Japan.
France, meanwhile, lost their own opening game against Mexico, 4-1. As consequence, both sides need to get point on board in order to prevent an early exit from this year’s Olympics.
France qualified for the tournament after finishing in fourth spot at the 2019 UEFA European U21 Championship, where they lost 4-1 in the semi-final to Spain.
South Africa, meanwhile, reached this stage after their third-place finish at the 2019 U23 AFCON.
Notoane’s side had to overcome several Covid-19 scares, with five players withdrawing from their Olympics squad before two more tested positive in Japan.
Notoane has made three changes to the team that lost to Japan, with Katlego Mohamme, Kobamelo Kodisang and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo starting ahead of Thendo Mukumela, Goodman Mosele and Sibusiso Mabiliso.
Here is how they line-up:
South Africa: Williams, Mohamme, Frosler, Malepe, Fleurs, Kodisang, Cele, Mokoena, Ngcobo, Singh, Makgopa
France: Bernadoni, Michelin, Nkonkou, Kalulu, Caci, Svanire, Tousart, Thauvin, Mbuku, Kolo Manie, Gignac
