Sirino – I Want To Play For Al Ahly

Gaston Sirino has revealed that he wants to leave Mamelodi Sundowns to join Al Ahly, adding that he hopes both sides can agree to a deal this time around.

Downs and Al Ahly had negotiated over the transfer of Sirino but couldn’t agree on a fee for the Uruguayan winger and talks broke down.

Even coach Pitso Mosimane confirmed that Al Ahly wanted Sirino before he joined the Egyptian giants.

However, with another transfer period coming up, Sirino himself has once again spoken about his “dream” of joining the ‘Club of the Century’.

“Al-Ahly is the best club in Africa, and joining them is a dream,” Sirino told OnTime Sports as cited by Kingfut.

“My contract expires with Sundowns after two seasons, and my relationship is great with Pitso Mosimane, but I have not communicated with him for a while because of the circumstances.

“I hope that negotiations go easier if it’s renewed between Al Ahly and Sundowns. I will try to connect the two boards to each other and bring their views closer because my dream is to play for Al Ahly, who have a great history in Africa and internationally.

“There are no contacts at the moment, but there were contacts earlier. I pray to God that the Sundowns’ board will be more flexible this time if negotiations are renewed.

Sirino also insisted that he still feels physically strong despite turning 30 in February, before revealing he wants to join Al Ahly.

“I don’t care about age because I feel that my physical fitness is excellent, and I work on myself well, so I don’t worry about the age factor,” he added.

“Why Al Ahly? Because it is one of the best clubs on the continent and in the world and has a great history. Therefore, playing for Al Ahly is a dream of mine.

However, when asked about Al Ahly’s chances in the CAF Champions League final against Kaizer Chiefs, Sirino was more coy with his answer.

“I cannot say for sure who has the greatest chance of winning the Champions League final this season. I wish both teams success,” he stated.
