Percy Tau has revealed that Pitso Mosimane and the prospect of playing in the FIFA Club World Cup were among the main reasons for joining Al Ahly.
The South African winger joined the Egyptian giants during the past transfer window to reunite with his former coach.
Tau featured 102 times under Mosimane during their time at Mamelodi Sundowns, scoring 24 times and assisting 27 more.
He now explained that ‘Jingles’ being at the Egyptian giants played a major role in his decision to leave Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion for Al Ahly.
“Everyone played a role in me coming to Al Ahly. The club, the addition of the coach, I know the coach very well,” he told the club’s media department.
“I always love to be around him. He’s got the hunger to win. He works hard. We are almost similar.”
“He wants to win. I always want to win. We’ve got the love for each other. We always try and get the best out of each other.
“He knows that I’m very engaging. He’s also engaging to the players.”
Tau also insisted that playing in the Club World Cup also motivated him to join the Egyptian giants.
“I’m looking forward to participating in the Club World Cup,” he added.
“It’s part of why I chose to come here; it’s always good to go for a second time and to just keep going.”
