South African Football Association president Dr Danny Jordaan has been charged after an arrest warrant was issued and is expected to appear at the Palm Ridge magistrate court on Wednesday over alleged fraud of R1.3 million, according to the Sowetan.
It is reported that Jordaan and two co-accused, SAFA CFO Gronie Hlunyo as well as a businessman, will appear in court on Wednesday over allegations of spending SAFA money for personal use without authorisation between 2014 and 2018.
“The allegations are that between 2014 and 2018, the president of Safa used the organisation’s resources for his personal gain including hiring a private security company for his personal protection, a Public Relations company without authorisation from the SAFA Board,” Hawks spokesperson Col Katlego Mogale said, as per the Sowetan.

It is claimed Jordaan tried to interdict his arrest and prosecution, however, the case is expected to go ahead and was scheduled to be heard on Thursday.
Jordaan and his co-accused have been granted R20,000 bail on Wednesday and the case has been adjourned till 5 December 2024.
